Advisors

The IARU Administrative Council AC) appoints advisors and coordinators to serve in specialized roles.

The Satellite Advisor, currently Hans Blondeel Timmerman, PB2T, handles amateur satellite frequency coordination; keeps the AC informed on all technical and operational aspects of the amateur satellite service; provides advice and assistance to enable the AC to adopt appropriate policies; and informs the satellite community about the work of the IARU. An Advisory Panel composed of satellite experts from around the globe assists the Satellite Advisor.

The Beacon Project International Coordinator, currently Peter Jennings, AB6WM/VE3SUN, provides liaison with the Northern California DX Foundation and the volunteers who maintain the network of time-sharing beacons that operate on 14.100, 18.110, 21.150, 24.930, and 28.200 MHz. He also advises the AC on HF beacon matters generally.

The EMC Coordinator, currently vacant, coordinates representation of amateur and amateur-satellite interests on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) issues with special responsibility for CISPR. The EMC Coordinator ensures that the AC is fully informed on EMC matters.

The Emergency Communications Special Advisor, currently Rod Stafford, W6ROD, represents the IARU in the ITU Development Sector (ITU‑D) [external link] and offers advice and counsel to the AC on matters relating to emergency and disaster response communications.
