The Belize Amateur Radio Club (BARC) is actively following the movement of Tropical Storm Earl as it makes its way across the Caribbean Sea towards Belize.

During landfall storms such as Earl may disrupt normal communications by uprooting communication poles, folding over radio towers and damaging antennae used by
telecommunication companies. The loss of normal communications makes communities and individuals vulnerable if they are not able to relay
critical information.

BARC members are dedicated two-way radio operators (also called Ham Radio Operators) who have trained and are prepared to provide
emergency radio communications for our communities should they be called upon.

As Tropical Storm Earl approaches BARC announces that its members will be using the using the frequencies of 7.177 MHz and 147.000 to relay emergency messages within Belize. We will also use internationally allocated ham radio frequencies for external contact where necessary.
