Radio amateurs in El Salvador received clearance from the telecom regulator to operate using the YS1YOTA callsign for the rest of the month.

Mily, YS1YXI, 14, the country’s youngest amateur, plans to be as active as possible from the radio shack of Club de Radio Aficionados de El Salvador (CRAS), taking advantage that she’s currently in the school holiday season. She also plans to invite other youths to observe the operation, to get them interested in amateur radio.
