Here’s some Info from the Anguilla Amateur Radio Society (AARS)

AnguillaTo celebrate World Amateur Radio Day, the Anguilla Amateur Radio Society has organised a roundtable/discussion with top government officials including the island’s British Governor Christina Scott and the Hon. Minister responsible for Telecoms Curtis Richardson on Monday April 18. The roundtable will run for 2 hours from 9 am to 11 am at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) conference room in the Valley.

In addition, the radio club has also invited representatives from the Royal Anguilla Police Force, the Anguilla Red Cross, commercial telecom providers LIME and DIGICEL, Derpartment of Disaster Management Officials, Public Utilities Commission Director and Security agencies. Among issues to be addressed greater recognition of the amateur radio operators on the island, duty free concessions on ham radio gear and a special ID card for ham radio operators.

The local radio club , which has been around since the mind 1970s, works closely with the Department of Disaster Management, Police and the Red Cross in disaster and emergency situations especially during the Atlantic hurricane season from June to November each year.
