The theme of the 2011 Jamboree on the Air (JOTA, 15 – 16 October 2011) is “Peace, Environment and Natural Disasters”. I have now been contacted by Richard Middlecoop, World JOTA organizer of the World Scout Bureau. Richard is asking for assistance in establishing contacts between national JOTA organizers and emergency communications groups of the Amateur Radio Service.

This year’s JOTA theme is an excellent opportunity to raise the awareness for the role of the Amateur Radio Service in disaster situations and we should support this initiative. I therefore suggest, that you either contact and inform the respective groups and/or national coordinators in your Region directly, or that you make respective information available to the JOTA organizers.
