IARU R2 EC elects three new Coordinators

Last week IARU Region 2 Executive Committee had its first virtual meeting of the year. During the reunion three new coordinators were unanimously elected:

Carlos E. Beviglia, LU1BCE, current President of Radio Club Argentino (RCA) is now the Monitoring System Coordinator. Carlos will lead the Regional efforts for the identification and initiation of steps leading to the removal from amateur bands of radio signals of non-amateur stations causing harmful interference to the amateur and amateur satellite services contrary to International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and national radio regulations.

Ed Hare, W1RFI, ARRL Laboratory Manager and IEEE expert is now is the EMC Coordinator. Ed will be in charge to exchange information and provide advice on all aspects of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in the Region and to bring potential EMC threats to the amateur and amateur satellite services, from emerging technologies to the attention of the Executive Committee and IARU EMC Coordinator.

Alphonse Penney, VO1NO / VA1AVR, actual Chair of the Band Planning Committee for Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) is now the HF Manager. Al will deal with all matters relating to frequencies below 30 MHz, such as band planning, general HF operating standards and practices, and will act as adviser to the Region 2 Executive Committee on all aspects of HF operations.

IARU R2 President Reinaldo Leandro, YV5AM, said “we are very fortunate to include this group of knowledgeable and experienced radio amateurs as part of the team. We appreciate the time and effort they will devote, as volunteers, for the benefit of the radio amateurs of the Region.”

The Executive Committee also approved to start working for a Region 2 Youth Group, for radio amateurs under 26 years old. If your IARU member society is promoting youth activities we would like to hear about it. Please send us information to youth@​iaru-​r2.​org
