The XVII General Assembly of IARU Region 2 is being held this week in El Salvador.

Delegates, observers and representatives of 19 radio amateur national societies of the continent are gathered to analyze matters of interest for the defense of our bands, the promotion of amateur radio and to elect the Region 2 Executive Committee that will be in office for the coming three years.

In the picture, Dr. Luis Méndez Menéndez, the head of the General Superintendence of Electricity and Communications, inaugurated the event and announced the adhesion of El Salvador to the IARP, the International Amateur Radio Permit, news that were happily received by all those present at the event.
